Washington State University offers several secure ways to pay tuition and mandatory fees. Students are responsible for reviewing their account balance, understanding payment deadlines, and ensuring payment is made on time to avoid late fees or enrollment impacts.
Most students can avoid additional service charges by paying online using an electronic check (eCheck).
Washington State University provides additional tuition transparency disclosures for resident undergraduate students as required by Washington state law. These disclosures are available on students’ tuition billing statements and through linked transparency resources. WSU also offers optional, interest‑free payment plan options that allow eligible students to pay tuition and fees in installments over the term, subject to enrollment deadlines and plan requirements.
The university strongly recommends utilizing an electronic check as it is generally a faster, easier, and no cost to you form of payment. Electronic check and credit/debit card payments will post to the account immediately. Be sure to check your account at that time to ensure the payment was applied. If not, please email us or call (509) 335-9711 opt-2 . WSU cannot accept payments over the phone.
Payments for Student Accounts/Tuition and Fees, Housing and Dining, and Cougar Telephone can be made online with a no cost e-check.
WSU accepts payments online via Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover Card with a 2.95%-3.00% service fee charged by the credit card acceptance company which will clearly be displayed at time of payment. Rates may vary depending on card used. Please pay online.
Payments sent through the U.S. Postal Service will be posted to your account the first business day after receipt. Late fees will be applied to your account if payment sent through U.S. Postal Service arrives after the due dates published in the Academic Calendar.

Currently WSU offers two ways to send funds from foreign countries to pay your student account charges. With Transfermate and Flywire, you can pay from most countries and territories using many different type of currencies. These are both safe and trusted payment processes that can be tracked by you and WSU each step of the way. The process to make payments internationally needs to be started at least 15 days in advance of the deadline.
Many 529 College Savings Plans now support electronic ACH payments, which improve processing time and tracking. Students should confirm digital distribution options with their plan administrator.
Paper checks from 529 College Savings Plans should follow the instructions under Pay by Check and MUST include the students’ Name and WSU ID number. Payments from 529 plans should be initiated early to ensure timely posting. Processing time varies by plan provider.
