What is Third-Party Sponsorship Billing?
Third-Party Sponsorship Billing allows Washington State University to bill an approved sponsoring organization directly for authorized educational expenses on behalf of a student.
Third-party sponsors may include:
- Employers
- Government agencies
- Tribal organizations
- Vocational rehabilitation agencies
- Embassies and international sponsors
- Other organizations that have agreed to pay educational expenses directly to WSU
Students remain responsible for ensuring all sponsorship documentation is submitted on time and for paying any charges not covered by their sponsor.
Students seeking Third-Party Billing must submit a completed sponsorship authorization or financial guarantee from their sponsoring organization.
The authorization should include:
- Student name
- WSU ID number
- Sponsoring organization name
- Sponsorship period
- Authorized charges to be paid
- Sponsor billing contact information
- Sponsor billing address
- Any sponsorship restrictions or limitations
To begin the process, complete and submit the Third-Party Guarantee Form.
Students participating in Third-Party Billing are responsible for:
- Submitting sponsorship documentation prior to tuition due dates.
- Monitoring their student account through myWSU.
- Paying any charges not covered by the sponsor.
- Notifying the Bursar’s Office of enrollment changes that may affect sponsorship eligibility.
- Renewing sponsorship documentation when required.
Participation in Third-Party Billing does not relieve a student of financial responsibility for unpaid charges.
If a sponsor declines or fails to pay authorized charges, the student remains responsible for any resulting balance.
