Bankruptcy & Credit Bureau Reporting

Bankruptcy

All Bankruptcy Notices are forwarded to the Collection Department. A memo is sent to various departments on campus advising of the bankruptcy filing. The departments are to return the memo listing the amounts that are owed. The Collection Department files all notices to the court, and monitors the accounts during the bankruptcy stay. Once the bankruptcy is discharged or dismissed, the Collection Department notifies the appropriate University department.

Credit Bureau Reporting

All Student Accounts/Accounts Receivable past due accounts are reported to credit bureaus if accounts are referred to an outside collection agency. The Perkins/Health Profession Student Loans are reported to credit bureaus initially at the time of the first disbursement and monthly thereafter.
